December 15, 2009 - Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) granted acceptance/completion of the I-95 Managed Lanes Project Phase 1B Milestone to MCM and its JV Partner FCC. This effort entailed the opening of all Southbound Lanes with delineators, reconstruction of the I-95/I-195 flyovers, widening of 6 bridges on mainline I-95, and substructure modifications of the HOV Connector ramp bridge from SR 112 to I-95, and the installation/ testing/ acceptance of ITS/tolling equipment.
The FDOT anticipates to start tolling by mid-January 2010!
November The National Design-Build Project Awards (DBIA) Competition took place in Washington, DC this year. Our MCM/RS&H Team was present to receive the prestigious DBIA Award for Best Transporation Project under $50 Million.
With new high-speed, open-road tolling and a signature overhead gantry, the Sunrise Mainline Toll Plaza Modifications project transformed South Florida's Sawgrass Expressway into a highway of the future. Our MCM/RS&H Team
completed the project two months early and ultimately exceeded the goals of Florida's Turnpike Enterprise.
November 9, 2009 - The MCM team, M-DCPS staff and city officials gathered at Miami Senior High School to celebrate the long awaited Groundbreaking Ceremony. MCM was awarded the contract for Miami High which includes major renovations of the historic building, 3 new classroom wings and other smaller additions, new parking garage and general remodeling work throughout the facility.

October 30, 2009 – After three accelerations, due to dozens of Bulletins, the MCM-Dragados Joint Venture (MDJV) has attained the TCO for Phase 1 of the North Terminal Improvements project. NTI is basically the “front door” of the North Terminal Development project. NTI features a new curbside which has been enhanced by increasing the width 4’ with a beautiful Rustic Terrazzo finish and a new Metal Panel Ceiling system with better illumination along with additional curbside ticket counters and LED signage. There are new Automatic Entrance doors to a new Epoxy Terrazzo covered circulation space which is well lit to the new ticket counters. Two brand new security checkpoints will be opening this week to allow passengers a shorter path to the gates that MCM helped build under POJV. The ramp level features 7 new bag claim devices. Great job MDJV Team!

October 25, 2009 – The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), AAA, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce recently announced that Florida DOT's I-95 Managed Lanes Project won the People’s Choice Award. The prestigious awards were presented at the AASHTO Annual Meeting in Palm Desert, California. This project entails reconstruction of the I-95/I-195 flyovers, widening of 6 bridges on mainline I-95, and substructure modifications of the HOV Connector ramp bridge from SR 112 to I-95. Another big accomplishment for MCM!
October 24, 2009 – MCM recently completed another project with great satisfaction! The10th Street Auditorium, a 15,000 sq.ft. state-of-the-art facility, has been designed to accommodate the Art Deco Welcome Center, a two-story exhibition hall/interpretive center a retail gift store, a lecture hall and administrative offices. On the east lies the newly renovated 2000 sq ft Beach Patrol Headquarters, which will continue to serve as a valuable resource for the community with the expansion of their administrative offices vital support facilities for ocean rescue operations and renovated public restrooms. A breezeway was constructed between the two buildings in order to re-establish the historic north-south pedestrian connection within Lummus Park.
Miami Beach City Manager, Jorge M. Gonzalez, stated in his ribbon-cutting event speech that “MCM had done another wonderful job” and “the job was delivered ON TIME and UNDER BUDGET!”
October 14th, 2009 – After a long procurement process, MCM was awarded the New Additions and Renovations for Miami Sr. High School. This architectural jewel, which right now is overpopulated and in desperate need of major repairs, will start getting its well deserved face lift in less than 30 days.
This project is very dear to MCM's heart, since it was the first home to many of the young Cuban immigrants that came to Miami in the 60's. Several of our employees attended and graduated from Miami Senior, and we have very close ties with the surrounding community and alumni association.
We are very proud of this project, and we consider it a privilege and an honor to be able to return this wonderful facility to its old glory days. Go Stingarees!
September 28th, 2009 - MCM was recognized with an Award of Excellence in the Government Project Category by Southeast Construction Magazine.
This competition recognizes construction and design excellence in the four-state region that includes Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. This year’s competition received a record-breaking number of entries. Nearly 200 submissions vied for top honors in approximately 20 different categories, based on construction type. An independent jury of industry experts reviewed and scored the entries, and met in September at McGraw-Hill offices to finalize this year’s winners.
Eligible projects had to be located within the four-state region and completed between Sept. 1, 2008, and Sept. 1, 2009.

September 14th, 2009 - MCM and its Design/Build Partner RS&H were awarded once again an Open Road Tolling Project. The Florida Turnpike Enterprise chose our solution as the best one to implement the conversion of all Tolls in the Southern portion of the Homestead Extension into All Electronic Tolls, which will ease the traffic in this highly congested artery.
The work will include modifications to the Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) Homestead and Bird Road mainline toll plazas and seventeen ramp toll plazas. The proposed improvements on this project also include the construction of auxiliary lanes from north of SW 40th Street to south of SR 836/Dolphin Expressway.

September 7th, 2009 – MCM was recently awarded by Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department, the Electrical Distribution System Upgrade for the South District Waste Water Treatment Plant.
This project consists of of constructing Florida Power & Light (FPL) duct banks with switches, associated conduits, and cables. Constructing an electrical building; a control room; a bulk fuel storage facility with (4) 50,000-gallon above ground storage tanks; fuel pumping facilities and fuel truck transfer facilities, and all other appurtenant and miscellaneous items and work.
