Boeing 737 Plane Lift - June, 28, 2011 - MCM coordinated the colossal move of a retired Boeing 737-201 aircraft from Miami International Airport to the George T. Baker Aviation School. Several public agencies and members of the engineering industry were part of this massive community effort; MCM worked tirelessly alongside C3TS, Bob’s Barricades and Allegiance Crane, with the support of MDAD, MDX and FDOT to make this project a reality. This plane was donated through the effort and coordination of Benny F. Benitez (CEO of the 94th AeroClaims-Aviation Consultant Group) giving students the opportunity to learn through the latest flight technology. Since the Lift took place over LeJeune Road, extensive Maintenance of Traffic and street closures were required, and the operation had to be scheduled in the middle of the night. The plane was lifted with the help of a 500 ton crawler crane, donated by Allegiance, and placed on LeJeune Rd. From there the plane was then pulled by an aircraft tug to its new home at the aviation school. It was a great experience to donate our time and services to something that will make a direct impact on the education of Miami-Dade County students.
